Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Maharashtra.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Maharashtra previously known as Prince of Wales Museum. The architect selected to craft it was George Wittet. The museum is a blend of Indian as well as European architecture. It is built of basalt rock and it has three floors. The balconies are salient and inlay work is as good as in the Mughal palace. Construction was completed in 1915 but the building first served as a center of social assistance to children, then a military hospital during the First World War. Then it was again dedicated to the museum officially and opened in January 10, 1922. The rooms of the museum encompass varied and rare collections. Objects from the Indus civilization, sculptures from the time of Gupta and Maurya (early AD), as well as the Buddhist statues. You can also discover bronzes, miniatures, many objects of decorative art in precious materials and semi-precious stones, but also weapons and objects from other countries, like Nepal and Tibet.
